This film’s ambiguous ending leaves the door open for a sequel to The Postcard Killings, although its been almost four years since the first film premiered. receives a phone call from prison from none other than his daughter, Marina, saying simply, “Hello father, it’s me.” Now that we know Marina is alive, is there a chance that Simon is, too? Will There Be a Second Postcard Killings Movie? However, in the final scene of The Postcard Killings, Haysmith Sr. Kanon asks him to let him know when Simon and Marina’s bodies are found. He also tells Kanon that they found the hands of his daughter so she can be properly buried. The German inspector visits Kanon in the hospital, revealing that Simon and Marina are not biological siblings and are actually adopted. Kanon shoots Simon but lets both of them go, reassuring Lombard that they have “nowhere to go.” Viewers last see Marina dragging Simon through the snow, and it’s assumed that Simon dies from his wounds, but we don’t know what she does with the body. They take Dessie to a snowy field to kill her, but Kanon shows up on time to stop them. Simon and Marina kidnap Dessie, who quickly becomes the couple’s next target. They eventually track down the couple fleeing to Russia and are run off the road, leaving Kanon to die. Now, the detectives are convinced that Simon and Marina are headed to their home country after their last murder in Helsinki. He’s right because the computer was discovered in a trash can on a train. ![]() The bait thankfully worked - and the couple sends an email to Dessie thanking her for publishing the story while including the phrase “the curtain is pulled back.” Jacob and Lombard believe this references their Russian heritage (aka the Iron Curtain).Īlthough authorities trace the email to a computer in Italy, Jacob believes that the Iron Curtain means the couple is escaping to Russia. In one flashback, their father Simon brings Marina and Simon as children to a museum, where he tells them that “art is a wound turned into light.” Additionally, we learn that each postcard the couple sends teases the next murder and the piece of art it will be influenced by.ĭetermined to catch them, Dessie writes an op-ed piece as an open letter to the serial killers to hopefully help the authorities. It’s also revealed that the killers manipulate their victims’ bodies and the murder scenes so that they’re inspired by a work of art representing either love, pain, or death. The team realizes that Simon and Marina are in an incestuous relationship, which explains why they’re murdering newlywed couples because they are not accepted in society. (They’re also the children of Simon Haysmith Sr., who stole millions from his Wall Street clients and is now in jail). Jacob and Dessie conclude that Simon and Marina Haysmith - the suspicious American couple and brother and sister duo - are the killers. (Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Postcard Killings.) ![]()
